Jumaane N’Namdi is the Director ofthe G. R. N’Namdi Galleries in Chicago, Detroit and New York.His father George N’Namdi, founded the gallery in 1981 in Detroit, MI., thereby introducing Jumaane to fine art at an early age and enabling him to develop unique familial relationships with many of our nation's leading artists.

Committed to the preservation of culture and art, Jumaane contends that fine art is of value to all: “I aim to show people how to preserve and enjoy culture through the arts. ”Originally from Detroit, MI, Jumaane moved to Chicago in 1997 after obtaining a degree in psychology at Morehouse College in Atlanta, GA.Upon his arrival, N'Namdi developed the burgeoning G.R. N'Namdi Gallery of Chicago into a major hub for African American fine art recognized throughout the world.He then opened up a third gallery in the Chelsea art district of New York, NY, in 2004.

Jumaane N'Namdi represents internationally acclaimed established and mid-career artists, whose work can be found in the permanent collections of many of the world’s most prestigious museums, corporations, and private collections.Represented artists include: Ed Clark, Richard Mayhew, Robert Colescott, Frank Bowling RA, Howardena Pindell and Vicente Pimentel, among many more.Working closely with an array of fine artists from the Americas and beyond, Jumaane curates gallery, university, and museum exhibitions annually across the United States.

Facilitating major museum acquisitions, while building art collections for individuals and corporations looking to collect and invest in fine art, N'Namdi also conducts traveling art lectures on the history of African American Art, as well as the importance and steps to collecting fine art.N'Namdi has been the keynote speaker and lecturer for various institutions, including the Chicago Sinfonietta, the Art Institute of Chicago, Southern Illinois University, and the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art in Hartford, CT.

Jumaane N’Namdi sits on the Board of Muntu Dance Company, is a member of the leadership committee for Chicago Sinfonietta BRIO affinity group, and is on the committee for the Friends of La Rabida Children’s Hospital.A sports enthusiast and philantropist, N'Namdi sponsors a girl's basketball program, grade 5-12th, called the G. R. N’Namdi Gallery Angels, in addition to holding annual fundraising exhibitions for children's organizations.Aiming to preserve the legacy of many fine artists, N'Namdi continues to develop the gallery's publishing arm, which has released some 30 artist catalogs, a gallery magazine entitled "The Collector," and is now producing and cataloging historic artist video.Possessing an intense love for what he does, and an ardent desire to expose the accessibility of collecting, Jumaane suggests, “an appreciation for art is innate, some just need a hand in discovering it.I am here to assist."
